Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates classes are great way to begin your practise and there is no previous experience in Pilates required to attend the classes.
In these classes, you will learn about Pilates fundamentals, how to engage your deep abdominal and learn original mat Pilates exercise sequence. All the exercises are thought with building blocks to allow individual progress. All exercises can be adapted if there is injuries or any other physical restrictions.
This class will be running from the 9th of May every Thursday morning 9:30-10:30 am in Loder Hall in Maidwell.
What is Mat Pilates?
Joseph H Pilates, the founder of Pilates method, developed mat work that is foundation of Pilates. Original Mat Pilates order that Joseph Pilates developed is precise and balanced sequence where one exercise fluidly follows the other.
In Mat Pilates classes, you will learn about how to breathe more efficiently and to connect the breath to the movement. Finding the deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles as well as understanding the connection between the rib cage and pelvis are some of the main components these classes will cover.
You will also learn how to perform the exercises correctly adapting Pilates fundamentals in to your practice. There are six Pilates principles that will be learned gradually, and like all the exercises they are interlaced and connected to one another.
What are the benefits of Mat Pilates?
There are numerous health benefits found when Pilates is being practiced consistently. The main benefits are stronger core, more flexible body, improved posture and balance. Pilates improves your cardio vascular fitness by increasing your lung capacity. It can remove lower back pain by aligning the body and improving posture. Stronger core and better posture can therefore remove the pressure from the lower back.
Mat Pilates is a holistic whole body workout that has physical health benefits, such as improved circulation and increased lung capacity. Mat Pilates improves mental health as it requires using the body and mind simultaneously, engaging the brain as well as the body. Mat Pilates improves movement bio-mechanics and muscle strength for better posture and healthy movement patterns.
Can anyone do Mat Pilates?
Yes! Mat Pilates classes are suitable for anyone! They are designed specifically for those with no previous experience in Pilates. Classes are also suitable for those with injuries or restrictions in their range of motion. Mat Pilates classes include fundamentals to understand Pilates principles and how to use them. Classes are suitable for anyone from professional athletes to people with physical disabilities and/or recovering from injury. It is gentle, it doesn’t put strain on joints yet effective method to improve your physical and mental health
