Intermediate Mat Pilates
Intermediate Mat Pilates classes are for those who have done at least six beginners Mat Pilates classes.
Classes consist of intermediate level classical mat Pilates exercises as well as fundamentals to refine technique. Each exercise is build upon each other as a harmonious sequence. As well as learning more challenging exercises, these classes will teach you to move with the breath, strengthen your core and improve your alignment.
What is Intermediate Mat Pilates?
An Intermediate mat Pilates class includes more challenging exercises that are built upon the skills learned during beginners Pilates classes. Joseph H Pilates created mat work as a foundation of Pilates. Intermediate mat Pilates is a more demanding and faster-paced class, and requires the participants to be able to perform beginner level exercises before moving into intermediate level exercises.
You will still be working with Pilates Principles and the focus will be on breath in connection with the movements. Pilates principles such as control and concentration will be challenged more as the exercises gets more difficult. Modifications and building block will be offered in this level too for everyone to progress in their own level.
What are the benefits of Intermediate mat Pilates?
Intermediate mat Pilates classes enable you to progress and improve your practise. Like beginners’ classes, you will benefit from improved core strength, more aligned and flexible body. Learning to breathe with the movement harmoniously will increase lung capacity and improve circulation.
Intermediate level Pilates will deepen you practise and improve your technique. The classes will challenge mentally too as the exercises requires full concentration and precision to perform them correctly.
Can anyone do Intermediate Mat Pilates?
Yes, anyone who has done at least 6 beginners’ level classes or practised Pilates consistently at least for one year.
