Smoothies are great for breakfast or as a snack. Especially this time of the year when the weather is getting warm, and you may not necessarily feel like eating something hot but rather something cool and refreshing. A smoothie is a healthy way to start the day or a great energy booster to fight against an afternoon fatigue. These two smoothie recipes are some of my favourites; they are tasty and healthy, plus completely plant-based.

What makes this green smoothie so healthy? Often smoothies consist of only fruits, which makes them high in fructose. This green smoothie, however, is made with fresh leafy greens, plant-based liquid, natural sweetener, nuts, and fruit. Blending spinach into a fruit smoothie is great way to boost your immune system and an easy way include enough greens in your diet. Turmeric, on the other hand, is a great source of antioxidants and can even improve your brain function and may help ease arthritis! This recipe is full of iron, potassium, and vitamins, and is anti-inflammatory. And the best part of it, of course, is the taste – it is sweet and refreshing and keeps hunger away for a long time.

This avocado blueberry smoothie is low in carbs but high in protein with healthy fats. It is perfect for breakfast or as a snack. It is power-packed but not too sugary-sweet. To increase your protein intake, you can try adding whey protein or rice protein to this recipe.
